The July/August issue of Elettronica Flash is the last one to be printed, with the magazine now to be distributed to subscribers on a CD-ROM in an internet-like format. The marketing manager, Franca Comodi says that this will help the appeal of the magazine to a young audience, and that the decision will be reviewed for next year.
We find it very interesting that the magazine feels the need to send out CDs. Assuming that most subscribers would have access to broadband, the CD will just add cost and delay. But of course the subscribers will be getting something tangible – which the publishers hope will ensure that they continue to pay subscriptions. An internet only version might prove a more difficult proposition to sell to the readers.
