Sadly EDA Ltd: promoters of DATE and ESS UK; and publishers of several titles including ESE is in liquidation. We understand that EDA Exhibitions lost the DATE contract which triggered this move. The assets are up for sale, and we hope that perhaps the magazine will be purchased and continue under new ownership.
I think it will be difficult to find buyers for many of the EDA properties. For exaample ESE operates in a pretty crowded sector, with several European embedded titles published in English. It also doesn’t take a great leap of logic to recognise that the situation is one that National Electronics Week could exploit: by adding an embedded conference to their show, they would strengthen their event and make it difficult for any purchaser to make money from ESS.
