Social media marketing is attracting the attention of regulators in many countries, and there’s a great summary of recent moves by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) in the UK. The OFT is very clear on the subject, saying “online advertising and marketing practices that do not disclose that they include paid-for promotions are deceptive under fair trading laws”.
