German print advertising spend grows quickly

According to the mediaskop Q1/2011 (electronics segment) report, the print spend in German electronics publications grew by approximately 26% in the first quarter of the year. This research yet again shows that there is still life in printed media in Europe as advertisers recognise that many engineers continue to enjoy traditional magazines.
Unsurprisingly Markt&Technik retains the number one spot, with Elektronik in second position. In this quarter DESIGN&ELEKTRONIK rose to fourth position, meaning that ELEKTRONIKPRAXIS is the only title in the top four that is not published by Weka. Whilst it’s great to see the Weka print titles doing so well, I hope that other publishers will be able to up their game to create strong competition between publishing houses, rather than just between magazines from the same stable.
