Radio-electronics to launch “video intros”

Radio-electronics.com is planning to launch introductory videos at the start of articles posted on the site. This will give the author an opportunity to highlight the key points of the article. It’s an interesting idea: will engineers take the time to listen to the introduction, or will they simply choose to skim the text when deciding whether or not to read an article in detail?

Perhaps it doesn’t matter. Whilst adding the video is almost certainly going to be seen as a good thing by most readers, this move will also create a library of short, unique video content for the site. Putting a bunch of these together would definitely create an interesting resource, and perhaps this is where the value really lies. I’ll be interested to see how this idea takes off.
