Svet mehatronike magazine has an interesting business model – a paid-for subscription of just 4 Euros per year. As I said in an earlier blog post, whilst we’re not talking large amounts of money, it will be interesting to see whether engineers are prepared to make the effort to sign up and pay.

As it turns out, they are! Svet mehatronike has secured 400 paid subscriptions in just one month. And the publishers, AX elektronika d.o.o., have decided to increase the print run from 3,000 to 3,500 for the second issue.

Of course, we’re a long way from all – or even most – of the subscribers paying for the magazine. But there is no question that getting 400 people to part with real money in just one month is a major achievement, and it will be interesting to see whether the subscriptions will continue to grow rapidly. If Svet mehatronike builds a large base of paid subscribers, that circulation is going to be very valuable and I’m sure it will ensure a great future for the magazine.
